A few words from Diane: The “theme” of our wedding is Traditional but with a modern twist.
I say that because I am getting married in a church and having the traditional banquet hall, traditional dj, ect.
Yet when I think about things at the church they have kind of a modern edge to them I would like to think. I have a tighter fit and flare dress as opposed to the A line (like the princess my mom says LOL), a floating unity candle instead of the basic pillar, a bridesmaid/groomsmen number that doesn’t match, no aisle runners or church bows, a flower girl with a pomander ball, and so on an so on.
I am kind of a plain person. I think simple things look the most elegant.
I have a design that follows throughout the wedding of lines (I know its weird how it sounds), the invitation, menus, programs, place cards, ect have lines that cris cross to create a modern yet cute look that I love.
Another important aspect in my family is my Lithuanian Culture. While most of my Lithuanian family has past, my Dad is 100% Lithuanian and I put a few detail pieces together to bring some of the aspects into it. I have a Lithuanian ring bearer box with traditional ties in it, a piece of Amber “borrowed” that will be sewn inside my dress, and a traditional Lithuanian cake called raguolis or sakotis.
The bridesmaids dresses are all different styles but the same color (Aubergine)
They are from Catherine Simms Bridal in Naperville, IL
My dress is from Brides by Demetrios, Schaumburg, IL . I am a curvy girl and the dress I think is the most flattering for my body type-It fits through thigh and then flares out with different cascading ruffles.
My flower girls dress is a miniature version that matches mine(same store)
My aunt Lucy who is a great seamstress made my veil and also handmade a beautiful hand beaded sash for me. She took a broach pin, ivory ribbon, and surrounded the pin with beads and details to make a design in the center. That way when the wedding is done I have a pin to wear as a keepsake. While I originally wanted a very expensive sash, I am so grateful that my aunt as such a great talent and that no one else has a sash that is exactly like mine.
I am pretty plain and the most important jewelry I have are these big chandler earrings I purchased from the company Nadri and my bridesmaids have accessories from them (Nadri) as well as my gifts.
Well, my shoes I actually took them and cut off the bowes and created my own version of them-something I love to do.
I also put I do stickers in blue underneath my shoes as the “something blue”
I also purchased this beautiful fake fur wrap with a vintage broach.
