Some words from Katie:
I purchased my gown from Weddings 826, a shop in Lincoln Park. The designer is La Sposa and it’s an ivory lace dress. The sweet heart neck line is organza and more modern and then the bodice and train of the dress are lace. The train is WAY too long for anybody’s good, but you only get married once, so I’ll bustle that baby up and embrace it! My shoes are simple and ivory and I only plan on wearing heals for the church and the beginning of the reception. When the dancing get’s serious I will be changing into the personalized Air Jordans that my sisters recently surprised me with. (Kevin loves nothing more than America and Michael Jordan), so these will be a surprise for him when I put them on at the reception! My accessories are simple. I will wear simple ivory flowers lower in my hair for the whole day with a finger tip length lace trimmed vail just for the ceremony. My earrings are just a drop pearl and I’ll wear a bracelet as well. My accessories are all from Weddings 826.
We’ve tried to make everything about the wedding very “us”, all we want is a night that celebrates our love for each other and all of our favorite people! Some of things that makes our wedding “us” is our candy table (because who doesn’t love candy) with the favorite candy of each person in our wedding party. Another wedding party shout out will be the “Meet the Wedding Party Table” at the reception. On the table we will have 22 frames lined up with the absolutely silliest picture of each person in our wedding that we could find (including the flower girl and ring bearer), at the table you can sign the guest book and pick up a “Wedding Party Program” thats shows who’s who in our wedding with a little paragraph on each person. We wouldn’t be who we are without our siblings and friends, so even though this is “our day”, it wouldn’t be complete without honoring the people who love us most! Other details that we love: we’ve put together table numbers that all have a significance to our lives or our families, personalized to the guests sitting at the certain table.
Also, Kevin’s brother (best man) is a Marine and we will be sending care packages to the troops in lieu of a favor. Kevin is wildly and contagiously patriotic, so our ring bearer will be wearing American flag Converse and our flower girl will wear American flag TOMS. It should make for a great picture 🙂 Speaking of shoes, the bridesmaids will all be in a different color shoe and mine will be ivory. The girls are wearing a few different style dresses (soft grey color), and I’m really into them completing the style anyway that want to. They will wear pearls any way they want (chunky, classy, small, big, whatever!) and then the shoes will be such a fun pop of color. As a bridesmaid gift I ordered all the girls TOMS for the dance floor, so shoe pictures will definitely be a hit! Also, I love paper almost as much as I love handwriting. So I’ve put a lot of work into the table numbers, place cards, table thank you, and programs (church and wedding party), they are probably the biggest thing that reflect the style and colors of our wedding.
